9 best selling game systems, and at least 5 game franchises not games, GAME FRANCHISES that influenced the world of gaming forever, Nintendo pulled the gaming industry out of the dump, and has topped the market more times than any other company. They should be number one, and it is a damn shame that they aren't the NES, and Mario franchises are considered, by most to be the best home console, and best game franchise of all time. Not Konami, nor Valve, nor Capcom can even come close to comparing.+76
Why isn't this #1? They didn't just make one great franchise (like others above) they made Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Super Smash Bros, Pokemon, Mother (Earthbound), Pikmin... Do I really have to list any more?+47
We don't even need to talk about it. The god of game-developers is of course Nintendo. They started the legacy, they're continuing the legacy.

Naughty Dog is hands down the best developer out there besides Insomniac Games. And started off with Crash Bandicoot which was the perfect mascot and character for its time. Perfect for the age group that it was directed toward. Moving onto the world of Jak and Daxter set the benchmark of gaming for its era, defining what story telling and gampeplay is really supposed to be. Moving onto the Uncharted series and The Last of Us. Both of these games are absolute masterpieces. They've come a long way from where they started and no one has ever put as much effort into making a video game than Naughty Dog. They are the god of video game developers.+42
Certainly without a DOUBT the best game developers. They made Jak and Daxter! Definitely my favourite games! ( 1, 2 and 3 coming to ps3 on 1 disc- February 2012, with 3D and trophies! No rumour, it's been confirmed! ) Plus they made Uncharted- much more popular, and still fantastic games! Also the hit games crash bandicoot and sonic the hedgehog (also sega) were made by them. How are they not top?+30

The games Bethesda made that I have played (Fallout 3, Fallout NV, TESIV: Oblivion, TESV: Skyrim) have never failed to impress.
Fallout 3, the pinnacle of Bethesda's storytelling. Escaping from 101, searching desperately for my dad, restoring clean water to the Capital - their story encouraged me to live in their world, to feel angry at the creators of the vaults, to laugh at the strangeness of Little Lamplight. I cannot express the sadness I felt when I sacrificed myself to put in the code to activate the purifier. But you know what? I didn't go back to a previous save to continue my journey and sacrifice later. I was satisfied.
TESV: Skyrim is a beautiful game with beautiful gameplay mechanics. I entered a world where I would make hard choices about the war, whilst at the same time experiencing the thrill and extremely gratifying experience of killing dragons, all occurring within an environment that defied the turmoil and conflict through its beauty, and conversely ...more+27

Half-Life 2 is still the standard today for single player campaigns, it has the first real physics interactions in gaming, it introduced top quality facial animations and overall incredible graphics. The Half-Life series set the bar for single player FPS games.
Counter-Strike is the number 1 online action game series. It's success revolves on its skill-based game-play and clever maps.
Team Fortress 2, despite being 6 years old, is still one of most played FPS today. It has been VALVe's playground for experimentation and is now one of the most versatile FPS to exist. It introduced community-created content as part of a game.

This is literally the best gaming company ever. LISTEN TO ME. Half Life 2 and Portal 2 are considered some of the best pc games of all time. Not to mention they also started the hero shooter genre with Team Fortress 2. Also making world wide amazing shooter games like Counter Strike and Left 4 Dead 2. As well as making a mmorpg (Dota 2) that competes against League of legends and World of Warcraft. Also making Garry's Mod, one of the funnest games I've ever played. VALVe has the best CEO too, Gabe Newell! They made the World's Best Online Game, Team Fortress 2, and the World's Best First-person Shooter of 2004, Half-Life 2. Portal 2 has one of the best story lines and great soundtrack and graphics. Well done to VALVe.+38
They, literally, have NOT EVER released a game that isn't at least good, and while the vast majority are amazing to play (half life 2, team fortress 2, Portal 2 (lots of 2's... )), they have never made a bad game!

I only have a few favorite games of all time, and around 3 are Rockstar's games. Incredible studio. They deserve to be above Valve and Bethesda because: Bethesda doesn't make any good games anymore, and Valve literally doesn't make games anymore. But Rockstar just throws out masterpiece after masterpiece. I think they should tie with Naughty Dog, though.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ROCKSTAR GAMES! 1) They actually take time in making their games, in order to make the game as good as possible; unlike Infinity Ward who are lazy. For example, MW3 is exactly the same as MW2. 2) All their games are new and fresh, E. G Grand Theft Auto V will have added submarines, jet planes and 3 playable characters, since Grand Theft Auto IV. 3) They have made some of the best computer game characters ever. 4) The games environments feel alive and look beautiful E. G Red Dead Redemption.
